Stephanie Swanson will be offering a 5-week Beginning Enameling Class at the Chesterton Art Center starting Tuesday, January 23 from 6:30-8:30. In class, students will be experimenting with different techniques of high firing enamels (finely ground glass powder). Students will mostly work in copper and some sterling silver, which will be provided. As a very hands-on instructor, Stephanie will be encouraging participants to try everything and ask as many questions as possible. The goal is to have at least (3) completed pieces for each student. Jewelry is the most popular item to create, but other items such as picture frames, belt buckles and key rings are welcome.
Techniques to be covered in class include the following – stenciling, sgraffito, basse-taille, grisaille, champleve, cloisonne, and plique-a-jour. All supplies are included in the class fees. The cost of class is $225, with members of the Chesterton Art Center receiving a $25 discount. There is a maximum number of 6 students for this class to allow for the best possible instruction. The Chesterton Art Center is located at 115 S. 4th St., Chesterton, IN.
(Attendees can receive a full refund up to 2 weeks before class begins. If they cancel less than 2 weeks from the start of class, a participant will be refunded 75% of the class amount as a “store credit” to be used towards another class or gift/art purchase.)
