Mary Ann Pals is a pastel and charcoal artist living in northwest Indiana. She minored in the Visual Arts in college and has since studied under Gerrie Govert, Robert Hoffman (OPA), and Larry Blovits (Master Pastelist). Pals keeps active in the art community by: exhibiting her artwork, getting work published (Honorable Mention in Pastel Journal magazine's annual 'Pastel 100' Mar/Apr '06), judging area art shows, giving art lectures, serving on art committees and boards (on the Chesterton Art Center's Board of Directors), and teaching drawing at the Chesterton Art Center. Her artwork can be found in numerous galleries and online at: www.maryannpals.com Mary Ann has a passion for art, but she also enjoys traveling. She has visited most of the United States, hiking and taking many pictures. Back in her studio using charcoal and pastels, she tries to capture the mood or special feeling she had at a particular place. "My artwork is an extension of my journeys," she explains.
