Congratulations to our Gloria Rector Memorial Scholarship winner, Carli Murvke!

The Chesterton Art Center is proud to announce that Carli Murkve from Morgan Township High School will receive the Gloria Rector Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a Porter county high school senior who plans to major in an art-related field in college next year. Carli plans to major in graphic design and illustration at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. She’ll receive $1000 towards her art education.

Carli explained that, “Art has been a major part of my life and I use it to express how I interpret the world around me.” She plans to open her own studio after college using the space to display her work, instruct budding artists, and offer a place for other local artists to showcase their pieces.
This scholarship is named in memory of Gloria Rector, the first Executive Director of the Chesterton Art Center who passed away in 2017. Gloria was a teacher, artist, visionary, and leader- just a few of the many gifts she shared with the Chesterton Art Center throughout her life.
The Chesterton Art Center provides a scholarship each year to a local student. Applications are typically ready in February and due in April.
