Susan Kay Rosso:

Drawing and painting have always been the major components of Susan's entire life. While a Freshman in high school, she took college life drawing courses in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an adult Susan attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and majored in Graphic Design at Valparaiso University. She has studied with Richard Schmid and Charles Sovek for oils, Arnie Westerman for watercolor, Sally Strand and Albert Handell for pastels, William Hook for acrylics, and Kristy Kutch for colored pencils. Whether a student wants to learn drawing and/or painting in ANY medium, Susan feels she can help make that desire an exhilarating reality! Art is one of her passions, and sharing the joy of it through teaching is another.

Susan teaches a variety of classes at the Chesterton Art Center, including lifedrawing. Her classes are a mix of students working in oils, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencil, mixed media, or drawing. She has both adult and children's classes which have been on-going for more than seven years. The name of her original class was "Painting from Scratch for Scaredy-Cats"--and most new students are -- but Susan helps take the fear out of creating art, and makes it surprisingly fun!

Susan is an Associate Member of the American Academy of Women Artists (www.aawafineart.com), a national organization for women artists based in Colorado.
