Loosen Up with Oil Paints / Jun 3-24

WHEN: 4-class session / Monday, June 3-24 from 7-9 PM

AGES: Adults, 18+

DESCRIPTION: With guidance from award-winning artist Jane Cowley, this exploratory class aims to teach students a looser approach to oil painting in hopes of building confidence and achieving more successful works. Lessons will include composition, color mixing, value, perspective, spatial relations, and various techniques that help students loosen up their hand and see subjects in a new way.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginners & advanced beginners / Higher-level students can work on independent projects per instructor approval

LOCATION: Upstairs classroom

TUITION: $125 for non-members / $112.50 for current CAC members, enter code CACMEMBER at checkout to receive 10% member discount

SUPPLIES: Students are expected to bring the following supplies:

  • Oil Paints: Titanium White, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Indigo, Light Green, Raw Sienna, and Burnt Umber

  • Brushes: Flat brush, size 6. Filbert brush, size 12. Rigger brush, size 4. Angular, size 4. Liner brush, size 2

  • Four 11x14in. canvases

  • Palette

  • Mineral spirits & rag

  • Glass jars with sealed tops (recommended for mediums)

CAC REFUND POLICY: No full refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. After the start of, or the day of, the educational program, no refunds or credits will be given. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
