Understanding Watercolors Workshop / Jun 8
WHEN: 1-day workshop / Saturday, June 8 from 1-4 PM
AGES: Adults, 18+
DESCRIPTION: Learn to work with watercolors! With guidance from Claire Reed, students will learn introductory painting techniques, discuss watercolor supplies, and gain a stronger understanding of composition so they can become a more confident painter altogether. Students will bring a small object from home to use as their subject as they work to improve their observational painting skills and study an object from life. Lessons will include capturing light, building up layers and washes, and playing with stylized techniques to make each student’s work unique.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner + above
LOCATION: Downstairs classroom

SUPPLIES: Students are expected to bring the following supplies:
Watercolor paint tubes – burnt sienna, ultraviolet, yellow light, orange deep, rose, cerulean, green, yellow ochre, raw umber, Indian red
Other options: Winsor & Newton paint set , Blick brand
Watercolor palette
Mr Pen palette recommended
Watercolor brushes – round size 1, 2, 6 & flat size 12 (Blick or Princeton synthetic sable watercolor brushes recommended)
Can purchase individual brushes from Amazon, Michaels, or Blick
Can purchase a set
Two water containers
Can be a recycled cup or glass jar
Reference object and/or image to use as subject

CAC REFUND POLICY: No full refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. After the start of, or the day of, the educational program, no refunds or credits will be given. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
